Worried Thoughts?
“It’s going to be a bad day” ,“The kids are going to get sick”, “I am going to fail my presentation”. Does this sound like the inside of your head? Worry thoughts can flood our brain and take away the joy of our days. Especially as we approach a holiday or big event. That’s actually normal. Our worry part of our brain likes to know what is going to happen. Fan of surprises? Heck no. Worry would actually like it if we live in a box with no unknowns. But that is not life. We can’t predict every change, and sometimes, we have to face the unknown to really get to experience something great. The first year going to a partner’s holiday event may have been scary that first time, but maybe in the end you learned to love your partner more and got to know their family traditions. That big event? Maybe it was your first presentation at work and afterwards your boss gave you high praise. We have to do scary things to live a rich and fulfilling life. So when you have another worry thought, tell yourself that is just a thought. Don’t focus on it. Don’t engage in it. Let it just be a thought because there a million other possibilities of what can or will happen.
